infectious diseases of public health significance Evaluate ways to utilize the most robust and efficient laboratory methods Identify gaps in diagnostic methods and explore possible solutions
Review emerging technologies for pathogen discovery and detection Build relationships with leaders in human disease surveillance, molecular methods and others represented at this meeting of diverse specialists.
Meet new partners in the laboratory diagnostic community, for example, specialists in environmental monitoring for agents of bioterrorism or food and animal disease surveillance
Obtain information on hot topics including transfusion/transplant infections, HIV laboratory diagnostics, new and old respiratory viruses, regulatory issues and quality assessment protocols for molecular assays.

You can now register for the CDC sponsored HIV Diagnostics Conference
entitled, "HIV Diagnostics: New Developments and Challenges," February 28-March 1, 2005 at the Grosvenor Resort in Orlando, FL. This conference
immediately precedes the APHL Infectious Disease Conference at the same location. In light of the availability of new enzyme immunoassays (EIA), three FDA-approved rapid HIV antibody tests, and other diagnostic
approaches including nucleic acid amplification testing (NAAT), experts agree it is essential to reevaluate options for the confirmation of HIV. The CDC seeks to encourage public health and clinical input at this
conference.
The registration fee for the conference is $125.
The registration form can be found at http://www.aphl.org/National_Conferences/HIV_diagnostics_new_developments_and_challenges.cfm
