Job Description and Duties
This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by performing quality, timely, highly complex public health laboratory testing for epidemiologic investigation and testing of bacterial diseases of public health importance in the State of California. The position works as a highly independent bench-level microbiologist under general guidance from the Unit laboratory supervisor, to perform microbial identification testing using various techniques including biochemical, immunological, and molecular methods. The PHM II also has a key role in developing new test methods; and preparing, writing and presenting lab findings for supporting program missions. Furthermore, the PHM II actively participates in various activities to maintain compliance with CLIA regulations. The incumbent works under the Section Chief of the Immunodiagnostics & Molecular Characterization Section.
