THE OPPORTUNITY
The Senior Laboratory Assistant will be responsible for the following duties, but not limited to:
Provide lead supervision and training for Laboratory Assistants
Oversee media microbiology/laboratory preparation room daily activities
Log in, prepare, and process specimens for the examination including blood, stool, sputum, throat, urine, water, etc.
Retrieve specimens from onsite clinics
Participate in Quality Assurance activities as assigned
Utilize computer, laboratory information systems, and programs to record data
Monitor department inventory including laboratory supplies and reagents
Maintain an adequate supply of testing materials
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment including an autoclave
Prepare and initiate requisitions in the County Purchasing system
Communicate with County programs and outside hospital or laboratory personnel as needed
