PLEASE NOTE: This recruitment is for a Public Health Laboratory Director (M/C) in the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Public Health.
Under direction, plans, organizes, directs and supervises the activities of the Public Health Laboratory; coordinates the work of the laboratory with that of other public health units; performs complex laboratory tests and analyses to identify communicable, chronic and other diseases; performs related work as assigned.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This single position class is responsible for the operation of the Public Health Laboratory, including microbiological and analytical testing activities in support of various public health clinics, environmental health staff and the milk testing program. The incumbent also performs complex and sensitive laboratory testing and prepares reports for the Health Officer and required State agencies. Successful performance of the work requires the use of independence, judgment and initiative within established guidelines.
